The ballroom itself is a burst of dazzling light. Hanging from the vaulted ceiling are two gold-wrought chandeliers, both of which glow brightly over the occasion, and tall lanterns shine throughout the room.
The grand staircase descends with a flourish and opens onto the main ballroom. A balcony, which providing a clear view of the goings-on below, runs all the way around the edge of the room. It can be reached via any of the four spiral staircases in each corner of the ballroom.
Below, the wooden dance floor flickers gently in the light from above, and musicians in the side room play soft, classical music. Meg Giry, the dance mistress for tonight, is on the floor with a microphone in hand.
A low, wooden bar in the corner provides hors d’oeuvres and drinks to revelers; small tables for two sprinkle the area.

Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 07:22 pm (UTC)Said girl is enjoying the role of a lady, all polite and dignified. "Hello there." Said to the ladyfool.

Date: 2006-08-12 07:28 pm (UTC)Shalla returns the boy with a slight curtsy, grinning like an idiot behind her mask.

Date: 2006-08-12 07:37 pm (UTC)So much for pretending to be a dignified lady, because dignified ladies don't often grab thrown grapes and throw them back at the original thrower.
Shalla does, though.
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 07:47 pm (UTC)Nimble pixie fingers, suddenly there are two, one after another shooting in Shalla's direction.
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 07:58 pm (UTC)Shalla deflects one and catches the other, but she smushes it accidentally. Ew.
Clearly this means she should throw the grape mush back at the ladyfool.
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 08:00 pm (UTC)Magic will weave, they say.
"Lady." Swings a slender bow again, applauding her technique.
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 08:18 pm (UTC)"And what should I call my attacker?" Not her real name, for that would spoil the fun.
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 08:20 pm (UTC)"And the would-be juggler?"
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 08:42 pm (UTC)Lady Qatya has a nice ring to it, she thinks.
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 08:52 pm (UTC)"Lady Qatya." And there's the fool again, laughing softly. "Animal, Mineral or vegetable?"

Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 07:45 pm (UTC)She looks oddly formal now, but as she straightens the corner of her mouth quirks.
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 07:49 pm (UTC)"Good evening."
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 07:51 pm (UTC)"Sir." The voice soft and lilting, but clearly that of a girl. There is something mocking, even in the way she says the word.
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 07:58 pm (UTC)"Enjoying the view?"
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 08:03 pm (UTC)No, hers no longer.
"I am." Her eyes flick over him and Kaye spins a grape in her pocket. She can be anything she wants tonight.

Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 08:48 pm (UTC)The eyes, windows to the soul, close tightly; then regard him with complete solemnity.
"And how does one fly, Sir, when she has had her wings broken?"
Re: Balcony
Date: 2006-08-12 08:56 pm (UTC)Finally he replied, "...Need new wings then, I suppose? Or something else to help fly?"
