The ballroom itself is a burst of dazzling light. Hanging from the vaulted ceiling are two gold-wrought chandeliers, both of which glow brightly over the occasion, and tall lanterns shine throughout the room.

The grand staircase descends with a flourish and opens onto the main ballroom. A balcony, which providing a clear view of the goings-on below, runs all the way around the edge of the room. It can be reached via any of the four spiral staircases in each corner of the ballroom.

Below, the wooden dance floor flickers gently in the light from above, and musicians in the side room play soft, classical music. Meg Giry, the dance mistress for tonight, is on the floor with a microphone in hand.

A low, wooden bar in the corner provides hors d’oeuvres and drinks to revelers; small tables for two sprinkle the area.

"It makes it easier to fade into the background." She shrugs. "I was just curious what it would be like."

Draco replied softly, "You're too beautiful to fade like that."

He then cleared his throat to add, "Er, you mean the chance to be someone else?"

She stares at him, both eyebrows visible over her mask.

"The party. One not thrown by my family or one of their friends."

Bugger... he silently thought to himself. Said too much.

He hastily replied, "Oh, that. Yes, I've been to one other like this here. My employer and friend threw a birthday party for his daughter a while ago. It was formal as well. Other than that, there was the Yule Ball at my school, but mainly parties that either my parents threw or their friends, yes."

Wednesday relaxes a little and nods.

"Our biggest one is for Halloween. Maybe... you could come, if you wanted."

Draco does not jump for joy, or go yes!
But inwardly? Maybe he is.
A little.

"It's a popular time of year for us too. School always goes all out with decorations," He remarked, and his tone was a bit shyer as he added, "Maybe I would like that."

Maybe a lot.

She nods again and looks around the room.

"It's kind of pretty, all the colours."

"Yes it is." But he wasn't looking at the room at the moment. Grey dragon eyes peering back at her. It seemed odd to act this way, but she brought that side out in him. It was disturbing but interesting.

Kind of like her.
